J. Douglas Earthy Fund

J. Douglas Earthy Fund

Doug Earthy

This fund was established in 1999 to honour Doug Earthy – a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of North London – and to create an award in his name. The J. Douglas Earthy Community Service Award is designed to raise awareness of the vital contribution that volunteers make to the London community and to recognize, each year, a special volunteer and their organization.

The recipient of the Earthy Award is selected by a volunteer committee of the Kiwanis Club of Forest City – London, who now manages the award. In memory of the late Mr. Earthy, the recipient is given a special certificate commemorating the award and their organization receives a grant in support of its work.

Organizations who’ve received support include the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex, Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario, London Children’s Museum, Colborne Street United Church, Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario and SARI Therapeutic Riding.

A call for Earthy Award nominations is sent to local organizations each year. If you’re from a new organization and wish to be added to this list, please connect with Kiwanis Club member Ron McClatchie at: rjmcclatchie@gmail.com
