The late Dr. JC (Jack) Kennedy was a distinguished figure in orthopaedic sports medicine – not just in his hometown of London, but across North America.
A proud Western University graduate, Jack founded the school’s first-ever Athletic Injuries Clinic in 1972, which today is the renowned Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic. He was a trailblazer in providing expert care to Olympic athletes and was appointed chief medical officer of Canada’s medical team sent to the 1972 Summer Games in Munich.
Jack also served as Victoria Hospital’s Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery. His scientific contributions advanced patient care, particularly related to knee surgery.
Jack’s son, Justice John C. Kennedy, created the Dr. JC Kennedy Memorial Endowment Fund in 2014. Each year, through this Donor-Advised Fund, John, his wife Terri and their family support the Orthopaedic Surgery Residents' Research Day at Western – an important learning opportunity for orthopaedic surgery trainees – in Jack’s memory.
