Types Of Funds
Donor-Advised Fund
A Donor-Advised Fund is just like having a private foundation, without the red tape.
When you create a Donor-Advised Fund, your gifts are invested in perpetuity. You can start with a gift of any size. Once the fund capital reaches $50,000, earnings on the invested assets are available for yearly granting – and our in-depth community knowledge is always available to help you make high-impact, strategic grants to the causes and charities you care about most.
Donor-Designated Fund
The way a Donor-Designated Fund works is simple: you select your favourite charities and we ensure they’re supported, forever.
Your gifts are invested in perpetuity, and you can start with a gift of any size. Once the fund capital reaches $25,000, earnings on the invested assets are granted each year to your selected charities. By preserving and growing the capital, your fund will continue to produce income forever.
Field of Interest Fund
What cause is closest to your heart – health and wellness, community services, education, arts and culture, heritage, the environment, or something completely different?
A Field of Interest Fund helps you target gifts to address an issue area that you feel is important to community life, with granting that lasts forever. Your gifts are invested in perpetuity, and you can start with a gift of any size. Once the fund capital reaches $100,000, earnings on the invested assets are available for granting each year, with granting decisions made by London Community Foundation’s Grants Committee.
Community Fund
The Community Fund improves the overall well-being of our community by granting to the issue areas that need it most. This is a permanent source of community capital, ready to address the most pressing issues – now and forever.
When you support the Community Fund, your gift is endowed in perpetuity as an unrestricted donation. The capital and earnings from all unrestricted donations make up the Community Fund.
Registered Charity Fund
A Registered Charity Fund at London Community Foundation is a safe and simple way for your charity to establish an endowment of its own. The principal is invested and earns income over time; the income then provides your charity with a reliable source of funding. By working with the Foundation, you have the benefits of a diverse investment portfolio and the low investment fees typically associated with very large funds.
Social Impact Fund
When you reframe giving as investing, our community’s capacity grows in unexpected and exponential ways. Imagine the impact when you invest with a passion. Real change. Real results. A stronger, more vibrant community.
The Foundation’s Social Impact Fund uses a portion of the Foundation’s assets as investment capital, investing in social enterprises that are not only capable of providing a return, but that generate positive change in the community. In addition to offering traditional loans, the Social Impact Fund has the flexibility to provide support through various other financial instruments, including lines of credit, letters of guarantee, mortgages, or even an equity investment if the project is a good fit.
