London & Middlesex Vital Signs Report: 2024
London & Middlesex Vital Signs Report: 2024
I’m pleased to share London Community Foundation’s 2024 Vital Signs Report, now available in full online or as a printed copy from our office in Covent Garden Market.
Vital Signs is a biennial report published by the Foundation that looks at some of London and Middlesex County’s more pressing issues through data and the experiences of experts and people of lived experience in our community. This year’s report highlights the need to accelerate equity-seeking work to create a community where everyone can thrive.
For too many in our community, systemic barriers prevent them from enjoying a healthy, safe, and connected life, creating a widening gap with those who are able to thrive. Reading the first-hand experiences shared in the Vital Signs report, I was struck by how inequality weaves through all of them. How access to food in Oneida on the Thames is far more limited than it is in London, how people in racialized and newcomer communities face extra barriers to getting healthcare, and how 2SLGBTQIA+ folks from diverse communities may be isolated because spaces aren’t meeting their needs.
The 2024 Vital Signs report acknowledges that we cannot address the ongoing challenges in our community in silos or expect the same solutions to work in urban and rural areas. Environmental issues, hunger, health, housing and inequality interconnect, and we must all work together to create lasting change.
I encourage you to take the time to read the online report at lcfvitalsigns.ca, or pick up a printed copy from our office. Let’s accelerate equity, together.
