Vision SoHo Wins Award for Land Use Planning Excellence

The Vision SoHo mix-used housing development in London has received the 2024 PlanON Vision Award of Merit in recognition of its “collaborative partnerships to deliver affordable housing to priority community groups, while preserving city heritage buildings.”

The PlanON Awards recognize Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) members who have demonstrated excellence in creating thoughtful, innovative, and well-planned communities across Ontario and a commitment to advancing the planning profession.

The award from OPPI was presented to Harry Froussios, a Principal Planner with Zelinka Priamo Ltd., who was the lead planner and the point of contact between Vision SoHo and the City of London for the required planning approvals.

Zelinka Priamo Ltd. has played an essential role in making the multi-disciplinary Vision SoHo project a reality. They prepared the Planning Justification Report, Urban Design Brief, and other materials required to obtain planning approvals that included amendments to the City of London’s Official Plan, Zoning By-law, Site Plan Approval, and Draft Plan of Condominium.

The Vision Soho Alliance, a first-of-its-kind collaboration of nonprofit housing developers, plans to create more than 690 new housing units with up to 55% being affordable on the Old Victoria Hospital Lands in London’s SoHo community. Convened by London Community Foundation, the Alliance includes Chelsea Green Home Society, Homes Unlimited, Indwell, London Affordable Housing Foundation, Residenza Affordable Housing, and Zerin Development Corporation.
