An Update from LCF’s President & CEO, Martha Powell
Dear LCF friends and supporters,
The new year is a time to reflect and set intentions for the year ahead. Despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, our community continues to stay strong and hopeful. Your support is giving LCF the capacity to take action and shape the trajectory of our community for 2022.
The disruption that's occurred over the past two years has put a spotlight on local issues that can't be ignored – issues like affordable housing, food security, Indigenous reconciliation, Islamophobia, and gender and racial equity.
Some of the 2022 projects we're excited about include:
Being part of Vision SoHo, a first-of-its-kind partnership between six local non-profit organizations that are working together to create the single largest affordable housing development in London’s history, located on the former Victoria Hospital lands.
Growing our gender- and racial-equity-lens investing through LCF's Social Impact Fund, to ensure that we're actively investing in social enterprises led by women, trans and gender-diverse people, Black people, Indigenous peoples and people of colour.
Being the fundraising hub for the Chapel Project, which is aiming to relocate, restore and repurpose the small wood building known as the Fugitive Slave Chapel in order to teach our citizens about slavery, the Underground Railroad and the area’s Black histories.
I'm so grateful that you're part of our network that's creating a stronger London and Middlesex County, for today and for always. I hope you feel proud of the work that you make possible. We couldn't do this without you!
Warmly,
Martha Powell President & CEO London Community Foundation
