COVID-19 Grant: St. Joseph’s Hospice of London
St. Joseph's Hospice is an organization that provides compassionate end-of-life care for terminal patients, striving to make their last days filled with comfort and love. Hospice extends that care and support to families, caregivers and those grieving the loss of a loved one.
The rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic has made it increasingly challenging to maintain the same high level of care while ensuring the safety of both patient and caregiver.
"During a recent outbreak, 13 staff members and five patients tested positive for COVID-19," says Brittany Webb, Development Officer at St. Joseph's Hospice. "When we got word that the London Community Foundation and other funding partners had banded together to support those affected financially, we immediately reached out for help."
As part of the first round of grants disbursed from the LCF COVID-19 Response Fund, in partnership with the Lawson Foundation and Westminster College Foundation, $15,000 has gone to St. Joseph's Hospice to help pay for vital personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies.
"The support came when we felt like we were at our lowest point," Brittany recounted. "When we heard from LCF that support was on its way, the news had such a positive ripple effect amongst our staff. It truly lifted everyone's spirits."
If you'd like to support St. Joseph's Hospice, please go to their website to find out more and contribute to their COVID-19 Response Fund. "In a crisis, more than ever, we need support from our community," says Brittany. "From all of us at St. Joseph's Hospice, thank you for being there for us when we needed you the most."
