Diann Vail was the epitome of an unsung hero. Giving back quietly in the community, she was the type of woman who always put others before herself, and did so very humbly. That said, the name of her fund, “The Fairy Godmother Fund” truly speaks to the legacy she has left in this community.

Having experienced a fair share of hardships during her childhood and adult years, Diann was motivated to give back so that others did not suffer. Never wanting to take credit for her deeds, she thrived off making others feel special.

The Fairy Godmother Fund was established with the help of some of Diann’s friends who rallied together to kick-start the fund in honour of Diann for her 60th birthday. They too, saw all the great work she was doing quietly in the community and wanted to ensure that even in her absence, the causes she cared about would continue to be supported. The Fairy Godmother Fund was a way that Diann’s work would continue to live on, even after she was gone.

As a single mom and entrepreneur, Diann had a passion for helping women who were in a similar position. She was a pioneer for women before women could pioneer. She saw herself in all of these women and empathized with them. As a result, she had a passion for supporting causes related to women and children. She was also the organizer of a major women’s conference in London, connecting women in the business community.
