When the Robb family found that the administration of a private foundation was becoming too onerous, they looked to London Community Foundation. The Robbs transferred their Springdale Foundation to LCF as a Donor-Advised Fund in 1999 – handing over the administrative tasks while retaining control of granting to the causes that were important to them.

Although the founders, Frances and William Robb, have passed away, the Springdale Foundation Fund lives on through the family. Frances was the granddaughter of George White, whose family has long been associated with London’s development. George White and Sons Ltd. was a major manufacturer of steam engines in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

One important project of the Springdale Foundation Fund is the restoration and maintenance of the George White steam tractor at Fanshawe Pioneer Village. The fund also supports YMCA programs in London and region.
