Ken Hermann Sr. Memorial Palliative Care Fund
Ken Hermann Sr. Memorial Palliative Care Fund
Ken Hermann, a veteran of World War II, was involved in the great Battle of the Atlantic as a sonar operator for the Royal Canadian Navy. He passed away from cancer in November 2014.
Ken’s family established their fund in 2016 as a legacy to Ken, who’d advocated tirelessly for improved palliative care since the death of his first wife Eva in 1978. Ken spent his last months in Veterans Care at Parkwood Institute and the family quickly learned of the limitations and needs of their palliative care program.
The fund’s focus at present is on providing learning opportunities for front-line palliative care staff in London and the surrounding area, as well as physical assets as requested in local facilities for the comfort of palliative patients and their visiting families.
