My husband John and I created the Ashley Grace Powell Memorial Fund in 2004 as a way to honour our daughter. Ashley passed away in 1996. Through our yearly granting, all of us – John, our two sons and I – remember Ashley, and think about what she represented, and support causes that are close to our hearts as a family.
Working at London Community Foundation, I have the unique privilege of witnessing the unsung heroes of our community – regular people doing amazing things under the radar. What an honour it is to select the charities we support each year through Ashley’s fund.
It’s a wonderful feeling knowing the fund will live on forever, even after John and I are gone, through our sons and now our grandchildren.
