Faith Tilk Memorial Fund
Faith Tilk Memorial Fund
by Nancy and Steve Tilk
A beautiful girl with chocolate brown eyes, a disarming smile and a tenacious spirit, Faith was on this earth for just under nine years.
Faith lived her life fully, with high energy and a large circle of friends. She excelled at both ice hockey and soccer, and is remembered most for her efforts to give all of her teammates a chance to shine. She also spent many hours with friends planning and performing dance routines – the sillier, the better. Her obvious love of animals led her to proclaim that she wanted to become a veterinarian.
On November 18, 2006, after hockey practice and playing at a friend’s house, Faith went to bed and woke up with extreme pain in her side. She was diagnosed with appendicitis at Children’s Hospital and was admitted. Despite tremendous efforts on behalf of the paediatric physicians and staff, she was unable to recover following surgery, and died on November 20.
Faith’s life was short but meaningful – inspiring family, friends and our community to give in her memory. We established this fund as a way to remember Faith, and to support local causes that are important to our family.
