Pansy's Pet Charity Fund

By The Family of Pansy Estrellita Vishnu

Animals have always been an integral part of Pansy Estrellita Vishnu’s life of 88 years. Even in 1989 when she immigrated from Singapore to Canada with her family, Pansy ensured that her dogs immigrated to Canada as well because they have always been regarded as family members. In fact, Pansy brought five dogs with her: Venus, Twinkle Toes, Bambi, Gremlin and Puppy. Her dogs adjusted well from living 1 degree north of the Equator, to living in a country with four seasons, especially enjoying playing and sitting in the snow! Pansy was always proud to share with family and friends that she has cared for 52 dogs in her lifetime!

Pansy was known in her birthplace community for being an animal welfare advocate. In Singapore, it was not uncommon for people who found stray dogs or cats to leave the stray animal at her house gate to the property! Pansy would then take in the animal, nurse it back to health, and either adopt the stray into her home or bring them to the local shelter. For Pansy, her pets always came first! It was not unusual to find in The Vishnu family home a mix of rescued dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, fish, and even injured wildlife! Pansy will be best remembered for her unconditional love, dedication, compassion and caring of household pets.

In gratitude and to celebrate Pansy’s life and legacy, Roland Vishnu established a flow-through account, Pansy’s Pet Charity Fund, with the London Community Foundation. This fund will focus on providing financial assistance to guardians for their household/domestic and homeless animals in need of emergency or short-term basic needs (food, bedding, supplies), and elective but necessary surgery to ensure a healthy, sustainable life for the animal.
