GROWING HOPE’S GARDEN: Education and outreach is one tool in the fight against eating disorders. Funding Hope’s Garden received from the London Community Foundation is being put towards a Speakers Bureau program.
Hope’s Garden is a support and resource centre that offers a safe and supportive environment to people who suffer from eating disorders and for their families and friends. Education and outreach are core services offered through this organization. In 2006, The London Community Foundation helped to support the creation of Hope’s Garden Speakers Bureau.
This is part of an outreach program that aims to increase public awareness about eating disorders and teaches prevention information to youths. Speakers are frequently invited to talk to a wide variety of agencies, school groups such as parent councils, teachers and coaches, as well as in classrooms and assemblies to students from grades 4 and up.
