Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School and Lord Dorchester Secondary School receive inaugural Vital Schools grants
Jan. 16, 2012
The vitality and well-being of our city relies on individuals who take initiative, make a contribution and demonstrate leadership. Age is not a requirement in leading change.
This is why the new Vital Schools grant program at London Community Foundation gives community leaders in high school access to funding to help make a positive change in their neighbourhoods.
London Community Foundation is pleased to announce that 2011 Vital Schools grants include:
- Love is Louder campaign at Lord Dorchester Secondary School ($1,000)
- Rachel’s Challenge program at Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School ($1,000)
In response to the call for applications to the Vital Schools grant program in 2011, London Community Foundation received 7 applications. Ideas ranged from a community based physical fitness program, to a neighbourhood garbage clean-up campaign, to various tree planting and garden planning projects, to a ‘school to work’ program aimed at assisting students at risk of not graduating.
