Frequently Asked Questions

Question: May I book talent from outside the City of London for my event?
Answer: While certain event types, such as festivals, sometimes require talent beyond the City of London, the intention of this funding stream is to support London area artists. Therefore, every effort should be made to book local talent.

Question: How many events can I apply for in a year?
Answer: There is no set maximum number of events. Instead, each application’s context is considered carefully while balancing the intention of the Paul Seed Fund to enable music at a wide variety of events.

Question: Is there an age requirement for performers/sound technicians to be eligible for payment from the London Arts Council?
Answer: Yes, only individuals who are 18 years and above are eligible to receive payment from the London Arts Council.

Question: As the event organizer, can I receive the funding and then directly pay the performers/sound technicians myself?
Answer: No, the funding will only be paid directly to the artists by the London Arts Council after the event and upon receipt of their invoice.

Question: Who is responsible for the invoice submission?
Answer: For events curated by the London Arts Council, the artists submit their invoices to the London Arts Council directly, and the London Arts Council handles all follow-up. For events curated by the event organizer, each artist is responsible for submitting their own invoice to the event organizer and for completing the artist banking information form, available on the London Arts Council website. The event organizer is responsible for reviewing invoices to confirm that they follow the template provided to them by the London Arts Council, and to confirm that they contain all of the requested information. Should the invoice be missing required information, the event organizer is responsible for following up with them and getting an edited invoice that is accurate and complete. Once the event is complete, the event organizer sends the invoices for all successfully completed performances and sound tech support to the London Arts Council.

Question: How soon do the performers get paid after the event?
Answer: Only those who have submitted their invoices with all the required information will be paid. Payment will be made within 3-7 working days after submission.

Question: What should I do if the performers/sound technicians I booked for my event have not yet been paid and the event is over?
Answer: In the case that the artists were booked by the event organizer and not London Arts Council, it is the organizer’s responsibility to ensure the artists have submitted an invoice to the London Arts Council and that it includes all the required information. It is recommended the London Arts Council’s invoice template is used.

Question: What is required of us after the event?
Answer: Go to the application portal and complete the follow-up form to share some reflections and upload one or two pictures that capture the performance and overall feel of the event
