Volunteering is the most fundamental act of citizenship and philanthropy in our society. It is offering time, energy and skills of one's own free will. London Community Foundation relies on volunteers to adjudicate grants, monitor our investment and finances, and further its development.
Yesterday, April 16th, we participated in a twitter chat with Govenor General David Johnston centring around volunteerism and philanthropy. He asked us to share our thoughts on what motivates us to volunteer and how we can encourage more Canadians to do so and inspires us to come together to raise Canada's image as one of a nation of smart and caring people. For those of you who were not able to tune in, you can view the trending comments using the hash tag #GGDJ at twitter.com.
And so, in recognition of National Volunteer Week (April 15-21), I would like to thank these wonderful volunteers for the energy and time they commit to this organization.
